Configuring the Network Panel for Dial Up Access
1. From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
2. Click the Network icon.
3. Click the arrow box on the Show pop-up list and choose Internal Modem.
4. Click on the TCP/IP tab.
5. Click the arrow box on the Configure pop-up list and choose Using PPP.
6. In the Domain Name Servers box, type the DNS server addresses for ASDE. (65.173.238.6 and 65.173.238.7)
7. In the Search Domains box, type the domain (asde.net)
8. Click on the PPP tab.
9. In the Telephone Number field, type 562-3595.
10. In the Account Name field, type your username. (e.g., johndoe)
11. In the Password field, type your password.
12. This step is optional. If you want to save your password, check the box next to Save password. This will allow anyone access to the internet from your computer without knowing your password.
13. Click the PPP Options button.
14. Check the box next to Connect automatically when starting TCP/IP applications.
15. Uncheck teh box next to Prompt to stay connected.
16. Uncheck the box next to Disconnect if idle.
17. Check the box next to Disconnect when user logs out.
18. Check the box next to Redial if busy.
19. In the box within Redial __ times, type in the number 10.
20. In the box within Wait __ seconds before redialing, type in the number 5.
21. Click the OK button.
22. Click on the Proxies tab.
23. Uncheck all the boxes.
24. Click on the Modem tab.
25. Check the box next to Enable error correction and compression in modem so that there is a check mark in the box.
26. Click the arrow box on the Modem pop-up list and choose Apple Internal 56K Modem (v.90)
27. Click the Tone radio button in the Dialing area if you have touch tone service on your phone line. If you have pulse dialing service, click the Pulse radio button.
28. Check the box next to Show modem status in menu bar tab.
29. Click the Apply Now button.
30. Close the Network window.
You have successfully configured Mac OS X for dial up access to ASDE Internet.
