Dear ASDE Internet Customer,
The latest widespread worm that has infected customers on our
service is "W32.Beagle@mm" There are several variants of this virus It can infect any
computer running a Microsoft operating system (i.e., Windows 95, Windows
98, Windows ME, Windows XP, Windows NT, Windows 2000.)
One of the ways this virus will spread is by an email that may pretend to
be a message from your ISP (e.g. ASDE). In other words, the email message will appear as
if it was sent from ASDE. It does not use a legitimate ASDE email address. Also, ASDE would never send attachments to our customers (unless it was specifically requested by a customer.)
It can also spread through
Kazaa (a music download program) and file sharing programs.
You must run the email attachment to become infected. So delete the message
before opening the attachment.
