Nodaway-Holt 2009-2010

Listed below is a partial inventory of local, state/national, university/college/technical school and military scholarships.  Most of these scholarships have been awarded to Nodaway-Holt graduates in the last six years.   The dollar amounts vary from year to year, as do the deadlines and requirements. 

 

  1. Local Scholarships

American Legion Auxiliary Bingo Scholarship
            Local group notifies school if a student has been selected as a recipient

Colwell Scholarship
            If funded Nod Holt will be contacted by NWMSU and applications will be on the school website or available at http://www.nwmissouri.edu

Community Hospital Association Scholarships
            Applicants must be planning to pursue an occupation in the health care field.  See Mrs. Kurtz for an application or they can be found at http://www.fairfaxmed.com

Davis Fertilizer Ag Scholarship
            The Davis family has donated a scholarship, usually the school is notified sometime in the spring if this will be offered to the graduating class.

Nodaway and/or Holt County Farm Bureau Scholarship
            Applications mailed to the school usually in the spring.  Applicant’s family must be Farm Bureau members.

Farm Rotary Youth Award
            Application is usually mailed to the school in the fall

Graham Lion’s Club Scholarship - Due April 26, 2010
            Applications will be available from Mrs. Kurtz in early spring

Graham United Methodist Church Scholarship - Due March 19, 2010
            Applications will be on the school website or from Mrs. Kurtz

Jerry Kent Davis Ag Scholarship
            The family determines if this award is available and contacts the school.

Mary E. Dorman Memorial Scholarships - Due April 26, 2010
            Application available from Mrs. Kurtz, generally due in early spring.

Maryville Business and Professional Women’s Organization (BPW)
            Applications are usually sent to the school on or around late Feb early Mar

Maryville Host Lion’s Club Scholarship
            Application is usually mailed to the school and then made available to seniors.

My Success Event Scholarship
            Application will be available to students who attended the activity if it is able to be funded.

Nodaway-Holt CTA Scholarship
            Applications available from the CTA president.  Preference given to a student pursuing a degree in the area of education.

Nodaway-Holt FBLA Scholarship
            Applications will be available from the FBLA advisor

Nodaway-Holt FFA/Ag Scholarship
            Applications available from the FFA advisor. 

Nodaway-Holt Youth Foundation Scholarship
            Applications will be available from Mrs. Kurtz in early spring

Northwest Missouri Association of Educational Office Professional‘s Scholarship (NMAEOP)
            Application available from Beverly Shifflett

NWMSU & Missouri Western Financial Aid College Goal Sunday Scholarship
            Random drawing the day of the event

Paige Gard Memorial Scholarship
            Applications will be available from Mrs. Kurtz in early spring

Ralph and Doris Messick Scholarship - Due March 22, 2010 - Cover Page
            Applications will be available from Mrs. Kurtz in early spring

Ross Stewart Medsker Memorial Scholarship - Due April 26, 2010
            Applications will be available from Mrs. Kurtz in early spring

Susan Douglas Memorial Scholarship - Due May 3, 2010
            Applications will be available from Mrs. Kurtz in the early spring

TK Russell Welding Award
            Gayle Bond selects a deserving senior for this award, usually a student who has taken a welding class.

W.R. Hotchkiss Foundation Scholarship
            This scholarship was made available to students whose parent/s were employees of the Deluxe Corp.

Boys State Scholarship
            Applicant must have attended Boys State

Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Good Citizen’s Award

American Legion Scholarships
            Immediate family member must be a veteran.  See Mrs. Kurtz for application.

Farm Credit Services (FCS) Scholarship
            Applicant’s family must do business with Farm Credit Services

FFA Scholarships

Cargill Scholarship

Monsanto Commitment to Agriculture Scholarship
            Applicant must be pursuing a major in the field of agriculture or related major.

            Deadline:  Feb. 15, 2010

Monsanto Roadrunner Scholarship
Applicant must be from a farm family with above average academic record and plan to enroll as a full-time student in an agriculture-related academic major at an accredited school.

MFA Scholarship
            Applications are sent to school and then available from Mrs. Kurtz. 
            Deadline:  March 15, 2010

Dekalb Ag Youth Scholarship

ACT Poster Contest Scholarship
            Contest is open from October 19, 2009 - January 30, 2010

Grand River Mutual-Foundation for Rural Education Development (FRED) Scholarship
            Applicant’s family must be a Grand River Mutual customer

Missouri School Board Association (MSBA) - John T. Belcher Memorial Scholarship
            Local BOE will choose the N-H representative from local applications (2009 deadline - 11-16)  Application can be found at       www.msbafuturebuilders.org/belcher

Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) Scholarship
            Online application available from Dec 1, 2009 through Feb 10, 2010.    www.kfcscholars.org

Missouri Board of Higher Education (MBHE) Bright Flight
Applicant must have scored at least a 31 on the ACT-see attached flyer

Military Scholarships  (all branches have different awards)
            Community College of the Air Force Award
            Army National Guard Award

Missouri State Fair FFA Exhibitor Scholarship
            FFA Advisor has the applications

Burger King Scholarship
            Application available at www.bk.com/scholars
            Deadline:  usually on or around Feb. 15

Kansas City Associated Equipment Distributors Scholarship
            Applicant must be attending a vocational/technical school, in the field of diesel mechanics or heavy equipment repair.

Missouri School Board Association Scholarship
            Local BOE has awarded a scholarship which they won from a meeting they attended earlier in the year.

Aquila Scholarship
            Electrical company awarded a scholarship, although this is no longer available, possibly check with your electric provider to see if they are offering scholarships.

Washington Crossing Foundation Scholarships
            National scholarships available for seniors who are history buffs, interested in government or military service.  Applications available at:

United States JCI Senate Foundation Scholarship Program
            Applications are available from Mrs. Kurtz
Deadline is January 4, 2010.

Christian Connector Scholarship Resource
            Information may be requested and automatically entered in a $2500 scholarship drawing.  Log onto www.christianconnector.com

Dr. Darrell “Jack” Holley/MUSIC Scholarship
Offered to our students from our school’s insurance company.  Application will be placed in Sr. Mailboxes in early Jan. deadline is usually Feb 19, 2010.

Missouri Corn Growers Scholarship
            Application available at www.mocorn.org
            Deadline:  Usually on or about Feb. 13

Best Buy Scholarship
            Application available at www.bestbuy.com/scholarships
            Deadline:  Usually on or about Feb. 15

III.    University/College/Technical School Scholarships
            Be sure to check prospective school applications, financial aid pages/view book and or the website for school specific scholarships and awards.

            -Alumni Scholarship (family member must be a NWMSU alumni)
The following scholarships are based on the applicant’s index score:
            -Freshmen Merit Award ($500)
            -Tower Scholarship 23 - 26 ACT($1500)       
            -Academic Excellence Award 27 ACT ($2000)
            -Distinguished Scholarship 28 - 36 ACT ($2500)
            -President’s Scholarship -competitive award given to 10 students with a combined -185-199 index or 28-36 ACT ($5000)
            -Missouri Achievement Scholarship -one time $500 for students with 24-36 ACT early applicants.
