Commission:
Members
of the Finance Council and term dates:
The Finance
Council is required by Catholic Church Canon Law for each parish.
Members are chosen by the pastor and serve to advise him in all
major financial decisions of the parish. An annual report is required
to be sent to the Bishop each year in July after the end of our
fiscal year (July 1 to June 30). Saint Gregory’s also issues
a yearly report to all the parish of income and expenses within
our Annual Report given at the yearly Ministry Fair in September.
The Finance
Council works with the Parish Council that gives the finance group
the yearly priorities and programs that are to be funded and then
the finance group must work on a yearly budget to satisfy those
goals.
The Finance
Council works with the Stewardship Council, which coordinates
the overall efforts of our parish in stewardship both in terms
of the sharing of time and talent as well as the giving of treasure
throughout parish envelope and other gifts. Stewardship folks
do more of the education and advocacy for us being good stewards
because of baptism and help us find outlets for the use of our
gifts in the many ministries of the parish.

Envelopes
for Regular Contributions:
Each family that registers at Saint Gregory’s
are asked to use envelopes on a weekly or monthly basis to help
support the many ministries of the parish community. We give back
to God in Stewardship out of a tremendous gratitude for all that
we have been given. Our bishop suggests that the traditional tithe
of 10% of our goods back to God be divided as follows:
5% of our
gross income be given to our Parish of Saint Gregory’s over
the year in envelopes.
1% of our
gross income be given to the Diocese through the annual appeal
of the Bishop.
4% of our
gross income be given to other charities of our choice such as
the 2nd collections that are often taken to assist world charities.
In January
the parish will mail a statement of our recorded donations to each
household for their records and for IRS purposes.
Quarterly
the parish mails us an update of our gifts. Every two months the
parish has envelope packets mailed to each household.

Endowments:
PETRE
(Parish Endowment Trust Fund for Religious Education)
This fund accepts gifts, which form an endowment for
all parish Religious Education programs, including the school.
The annual interest income is allocated to all levels of parish
religious education and the school to assist with the costs of
those programs. A governing board (pastor and six lay parishioners)
promotes the growth of the fund and allocates the income each
year. A gift to PETRE may include cash, real estate property,
a new or existing insurance policy, a bequest in a will and more.
Four times
a year (each quarter) an envelope is placed in our parish envelope
packet to provide for gifts to this endowment for the school and
parish education programs. This endowment is administered by the
Diocese as described below. For more information, contact the
parish office at 660-582-3833.

questions about leaving a legacy of goodness to our faith community
